|cparker||01:05 am - Mid-Year Update|
This is just to let people know that the Society of the Onyx Star is still alive and well, despite what rumors may say.
I have noticed that the SOTOS Web site (http://onyxstar.org/) is currently down. If you'd like to interact with others interested in the Society, please visit the official SOTOS Yahoo! Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/societyonyxstar.
Our Council Administrator has been in contact with the person who'd been hosting onyxstar.org to find out what's going on with it, but she hasn't had any response. I have loads of free time on my hands lately, so I may be able to reinstate societyonyxstar.org, societyonyxstar.com, and societyonyxstar.net. More info. regarding this will be posted as it's available.
The U.S. branch of the Society has been rather quiet as of late; its proprietors have all been very busy lately, and haven't had much time for much of anything strictly SOTOS-related.
Our Council Administrator, magicaldance, has put together an informational Web site about Satanism called Satanism and Crime. It is suggested that people knowing little to nothing about Satanism, or people who think Satanism is a "brutal" religion, visit the Web site, review its contents, then take the accompanying survey. Everything is completely anonymous, so you needn't worry about privacy concerns. I will ask her if she would be willing to post an entry here with more elaboration to do it justice.
Magistrate Bleach has reported that the Australian branch of the Society is bustling with activity and is having regular meetings. Way to go!
Magistrate Ellaway--from what I hear--is working on his thesis for his PhD, and has been chronically busy for quite a while. The rest of us are wishing him the best of luck, not only so the UK/GB branch's activity will pick up, but also so he can make lots and lots of money to donate to SOTOS Headquarters. *grin* I'm being facetious, by the way. I am serious, however, when I say that anybody interested in communicating with members of the UK/GB branch of the Society should do so at its official Yahoo! Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SOTOS_UK.
Magistrate van Schayk (snofroe) has been very busy with his own affairs in the Netherlands, however he is fairly active on IRC if you'd ever like to get a hold of him. Head over to #unholy on irc.satanic-chat.net (irc://irc.satanic-chat.net/unholy) and say "hi".
Magistrate Van Patten has also been extremely busy with his own ventures and other magical institutions, from what I've heard.
I've also been substantially busy, balancing work and school. However, I have a bit of a break for the time being, and I'm going to be able to devote more time to the Society. As I mentioned before, I may be able to get our original three second-level domains back online (.org, .com, and .net).
Well, that's about it. If anybody else has any news or information, please post a new entry. If anybody has any questions and/or comments regarding anything I've mentioned here, please reply with a comment to this entry.

Do they ever plan on having a non-yahoo group? I don't like the way Yahoo groups work very much :(
Btw, I remember the old days when it used to be FCoS. Silly Egan and his faked death statement :p

For a while, I've wanted to convert over to a self-hosted group. However, since the server that was hosting our original three second-level domains (.org, .com, and .net) has gone down several times, I don't think it's such a good idea at this time. We wouldn't want our discussion list(s) to be lost due to a server crash. :)
Those were trying times, during the end. Although, I'm glad that it happened, because it helped us all move away from the drama, and it spawned the creation of SOTOS in the first place. Funny, how things happen...

Aye, yeah. I'd probably apply to join SOTOS but I'm going to give CoS a go first, and they tend to frown on being a member of other groups that claim to be satanic, no bloody clue why though... eh well.

But ah, SOTOS is not a Satanic organization. SOTOS caters to all LHP paths--not solely Satanic!
The thing with the CoS is that they like to think they have a monopoly on the "market", making them the only credible source of information and social interaciton. That's my interpretation, anyway.
